With the Mobile Waste Container System continuing to be the focal point of all curb side collections of household residual waste and recyclables, it is crucial that the manufacture of the bins themselves embrace and bring practical effect to the circular economy and the product’s own recyclability. This need and expectation from the market particularly requires local government approvers and specifiers obtain expert advice on the scope of sustainability and product stewardship available, along with conformance with and certification to the appropriate Australian Standard AS 4123 -2024 Parts 1 to 7 and other international quality standards where appropriate.
Our small team is led by Greg Gornall, who first chaired the Australian Standards Committee that led to AS 4123 – 2008 and is currently chairing 2024/25 review of AS 4123. Greg is an insider to the industry and established the first manufacture of wheelie bins in Australia in 1982 to the then existing German Gutesicherung RAL-RG 723/2 specifications. This was prior to the existence of the European Standard DIN EN 840, the Malaysian Standard MS 1564 and AS 4123 – 2024.
Greg has a very broad and in-depth range of knowledge in the manufacture and application of container systems both in Australia and overseas, having established Sulo’s business in Australasia in the early 1980s.
His experience also extends in positions as Sulo’s MD for 17 years, as CEO of Otto Australia’s business after acquisition by Sulo and having subsequently taken on the Singapore based role of Regional Managing Director – Asia Pacific for SSI Schaefer International from 2002 to 2007. This involved taking on full responsibility for Sulo Australia’s, Otto Australia’s, and Schaefer’s MGB manufacturing facility in Malaysia.
Greg established MGB Environmental Consultants in 2007.
